==January 15 to March 15- Lyons Library Winter Reading Program: Warm Up to Great Books! The program runs January 15 – March 15, 2021 and features challenges for Kids, and Adults. ==Boulder County now has been approved to join the state’s FIVE STAR PROGRAM, starting February 2. The Boulder County Administrative Committee’s application for the state’s Five Star variance program: https://ecs.page.link/4aVXZ

Monday Night 5 – 5:30 p.m. – FREE Supper. Need a warm, home-cooked meal? The River Church serves free Monday night supper (in a box) to those who need one. Stop by the Walt Self Senior Center to pick it up. (Call the church for more information, or if you are unable to drive to the Senior Center and would like it delivered to your house: (303) 823-6469 You do not need to be a senior; just “in need of a hot meal.” — We are checking to see if this will be continued in February —
Tuesday and Thursday – 12:15 p.m. – Boulder County Aging serves a boxed lunch to-go at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 65 and up). You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415.
Wednesday– 3 to 5 p.m. – Food Pantry for those in need. Drive up to the Lyons Community Church front doors, and someone will come out to your car and help you. Wear a mask and stay in your car. Contact LEAF for more information.
Wednesday – 11 a.m. LYONS WEDNESDAY WALKERS: The Town of Lyons Recreation Department = small group of seniors, 55 years and older, meets at the Senior Center at 11 a.m. and walk to a park and do some light exercises. Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com

February 6 to 14 –Old Man Winter Bike Rally & Run in Lyons, and surrounding Boulder County.
February 8 thru May 15 – HEALTH CARE INSURANCE – Open Enrollment is here … again! The Biden Administration has reopened the health insurance marketplace to offer plans through the Affordable Care Act. Colorado’s Open Enrollment Period starts today, February 8th, and ends on May 15th, 2021. —As a response to the COVID-19 health and financial crises, this Special Enrollment Period will enable anyone not currently enrolled in a healthcare plan to shop and buy plans for 2021 coverage instead of waiting for the Open Enrollment Period for 2022 coverage. Anyone who is uninsured, lost insurance, or on a COBRA plan can purchase insurance on the marketplace. Coloradans can reach out to Connect for Health Colorado
February 11 – 7 p.m. Trivia Night returns to the Lyons Library.
This time the funds raised from donations made via PayPal will go towards funding the Winter Reading Program. Those who don’t have a team are welcome and will be matched up. As a team you will get to privately discuss online your answers and then return to the whole group to share your responses and hear the correct responses. Prizes of gift cards to local business will be awarded for winning teams.

February 14 – Valentine’s Day – remember to let your Loved Ones know how much you love them! There’s never too much love to share.
February 15, Monday – Presidents’ Day – most state and federal offices will be closed. Town of Lyons office closed. Both Larimer and Boulder County offices will be closed. Post Office service is closed.
February 15 – free ice skating – the Town announced: Daily ice skate rentals will be FREE on Presidents’ Day although forms will still need to be signed by a guardian. The Holiday hours are: noon to 2p.m. Volunteers from LEAF will be offering hot chocolate so please consider a donation. Come out this weekend and enjoy our community amenities. == Holiday Weekend == Ice skate rentals will be open on Saturday, Feb 13 from noon to 4 pm, and closed for rentals on Sunday. They hope to keep the website up to date on these special matters: check the website for updated hours .
February 16, Monday, NOTE new date due to federal holiday = Town of Lyons Board of Trustee meeting, 7 p.m. on Zoom.
February 16 Mardi Gras / Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating rich, fatty foods before the ritual Christian Lenten sacrifices and fasting. – Due to the pandemic, there will be no parade in New Orleans.
Feb. 17 Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is a Christian holy day of prayer and fasting. It is preceded by Shrove Tuesday and falls on the first day of Lent, the six weeks of penitence before Easter. Ash Wednesday is traditionally observed by Western Christians, who give up something they like during the Lenten season.

February 17, 7-8 p.m. – HEART HEALTH – online BOULDER COMMUNITY HEALTH – HEART DISCUSSION (online) speaker cardiologist Scott Blois, MD, of Boulder Heart, who established the first heart failure clinic in Boulder County. February 17, 2021 – 11- 11:45am—KIDS! Live Event for Kids: Batteries are Everywhere===Did you know batteries are all over your household? Learn how to stay safe around batteries and what batteries do at this event! We’ll read The Junkpile Robot. Then go on a battery hunt and make an at-home craft. Free! February 17th meeting of the League of Women Voters of Estes Park will be a virtual event starting at 10:00 am. The speaker for this meeting will be David Wolf, Fire Chief of the Estes Valley Fire Protection District. Chief Wolf will be speaking on “Wildfire and the Estes Valley – Living in the Wildland Urban Interface”. The meeting is open members of the League as well as the public. The Office of Arts and Culture, Boulder County Arts Alliance, and the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission welcome representatives of Local Theater Company for an AMA (Ask Me Anything!) on hosting produced, polished online programs. We will discuss a step-by-step process to setting up an online program and answering any questions you may have. March 12 – DEADLINE– The Lyons Community Foundation offers six scholarships ranging between $500 and $2,000 for graduating high school students from the greater Lyons area.
March 31 – DEADLINE for PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM (PPP) Loans: PPP loans help businesses keep workers employed. These two-year 1% loans are now available through most banks. Loans are based on 2.5X monthly payroll.
