THE FLOOD; Jamie (Dirkes) Weber, Lyons High Graduate in 2004, is ever thankful that her school letter jacket lost during the September, 2013 Great Flood was found. It was lost when the family house was flooded and floated down river. It was found in the field belonging to the Cemex Co by renter Emily McMurtry, of Berthoud, who rents the land, and was looking for a goat when she found the coat. She took it to the Middle/Sr High who, with the help of Jamie’s track coach, Mark Roberts, helped to find the owner. The Cemex Co. has offered to restore the letter jacket and those of her brothers, if found. Jamie is the daughter of Curt Dirkes. The stately large house sat on the corner of the Foothills Highway and the River, and it was washed away with its contents. 1800 Colorado homes were flooded with 70 homes lost in the Lyons area. The jacket was a delightful occasion!

The rumble heard the other day seems to be blasting by the Cemex Cement Co., who failed to notify anyone. All thought it was a small earthquake..
