RECENT THEFTS IN LYONS, February 2021:
====“Hi Lyons, there was a motorcycle theft that happened this morning between 6:30-9:30am on the corner of 3rd and High St. If anyone saw someone loading a dirt bike into the back of a vehicle/trailer/van during these hours this morning right by the turn to the Elementary school, please PM with details. Thank you” == Note, this is also the location of two big, quality bike covers being stolen from a home.
=== “Had a package stolen today.. Was a 42lb steel magnet for picking up road nails, thieves won’t be too happy. Package was stolen at the start of Eagle Ridge Road.”
=== From Karen Crew, band director: “We made a careless mistake last night of leaving our garage door open and had some things stolen from our garage. Most notably, a black canvas briefcase embroidered with ‘Shawn Gregg – SVVSD Head Diving Coach’ and the SVVSD district logo. It is of sentimental value but thankfully had no other things of value in it. If it ends up in a ditch or a thrift store and you find it, please let us know.”
====and one good news… Karen Cornell wrote==”Oh man, I’m sorry to hear that happened. We accidentally left our garage door open Monday night after rolling the trash cans to the curb. At 1130 that night a police officer rang our doorbell to tell us the garage door was open. It scared us half to death when he woke us up but we were grateful!”

STREET DRUGS WARNING
For anyone this might help – Boulder County has just put out a notice that street drugs in the area – oxy and xanax – have been found to be laced with fentanyl, which can be fatal and has already been linked to 3 deaths in the county recently. Please pass on to those who might need to know this for whatever reason.
February 2021==HEALTH ADVISORY: Street Drugs Containing Fentanyl in Boulder County Street drugs containing fentanyl has recently been detected in our community. They are Xanax and Oxycodone 30 mg pills, most probably from Mexico. Fentanyl is 50 – 100 times more potent than heroin, and significantly increases the risk of death from accidental overdose.
• While Naloxone (or Narcan) can reverse the effects of an overdose caused by heroin or other opioids, multiple doses may be needed if the potency of the drug is very strong.
• Combining other drugs or alcohol with heroin increases the risk of overdose.
• If possible, do not use alone, or inform someone that you will be using.
• The strength of every new batch of heroin is unknown. Consider always doing a small tester shot first to determine strength.
• The risk of overdose is higher when tolerance is low. Tolerance decreases after even short periods of not using. Test Strips/Naloxone/Narcan Supplies Boulder County Public Health has fentanyl test strips and Narcan available. Narcan is also available at many pharmacies without a prescription. Visit BoulderCountyNarcan.org for a map of pharmacies that carry it.
Boulder County Public Health staff can provide training for preventing, recognizing, and responding
to an overdose using naloxone. Videos of how to use naloxone is available at
BoulderCountyWorks.org and on the OpiRescue phone app.
