==January 15 to March 15- Lyons Library Winter Reading Program: Warm Up to Great Books! The program runs January 15 – March 15, 2021 and features challenges for Kids, and Adults. Simply log your reading and activities and unlock badges to earn tickets for prize drawings. Register at: https://lyons.colibraries.org/2021-winter-reading-program/
==Boulder County now has been approved to join the state’s FIVE STAR PROGRAM, starting February 2. The Boulder County Administrative Committee’s application for the state’s Five Star variance program: https://ecs.page.link/4aVXZ
Information on how to prepare for the application and how to apply will be posted on Boulder County’s 5 Star Certification Program website starting February 2 at https://boulderchamber.com/boco-five-star/

===ONGOING THIS WEEK===
Monday Night 5 – 5:30 p.m. – FREE Supper. Need a warm, home-cooked meal? The River Church serves free Monday night supper (in a box) to those who need one. Stop by the Walt Self Senior Center to pick it up. (Call the church for more information, or if you are unable to drive to the Senior Center and would like it delivered to your house: (303) 823-6469 You do not need to be a senior; just “in need of a hot meal.” — We are checking to see if this will be continued in February —
Tuesday and Thursday – 12:15 p.m. – Boulder County Aging serves a boxed lunch to-go at the Lyons Senior Center (Lyons seniors, ages 65 and up). You must call the day before by 1 p.m. to place an order (303) 441-1415.
Wednesday– 3 to 5 p.m. – Food Pantry for those in need. Drive up to the Lyons Community Church front doors, and someone will come out to your car and help you. Wear a mask and stay in your car. Contact LEAF for more information.
Wednesday – 11 a.m. LYONS WEDNESDAY WALKERS: The Town of Lyons Recreation Department = small group of seniors, 55 years and older, meets at the Senior Center at 11 a.m. and walk to a park and do some light exercises. Contact Lramsey@townoflyons.com

February 6 to 14 –Old Man Winter Bike Rally & Run in Lyons, and surrounding Boulder County.

February 6, 9 a.m. — COVID COLOR CHART: all counties will drop one level in the COLOR CHART. Boulder and Larimer County will now be in YELLOW which will allow for 50% capacity in businesses (incl. restaurants, but not bars)
February 8 thru May 15 – HEALTH CARE INSURANCE – Open Enrollment is here … again! The Biden Administration has reopened the health insurance marketplace to offer plans through the Affordable Care Act. Colorado’s Open Enrollment Period starts today, February 8th, and ends on May 15th, 2021. —As a response to the COVID-19 health and financial crises, this Special Enrollment Period will enable anyone not currently enrolled in a healthcare plan to shop and buy plans for 2021 coverage instead of waiting for the Open Enrollment Period for 2022 coverage. Anyone who is uninsured, lost insurance, or on a COBRA plan can purchase insurance on the marketplace. Coloradans can reach out to Connect for Health Colorado

February 8 – DEADLINE EXTENDED for YEARBOOK – Lyons Middle/High School. – The deadline to guarantee your student’s yearbook was this past Friday. Personalization is no longer available. However, we are extending the time for you to reserve your book until Monday, February 8th. After this date, our school will be placing our final order with Jostens and only a few extra copies will be available at the end of the year. Visit www.jostensyearbooks.com

February 10, Wednesday, noon to 1:15 p.m. Racial Equity and Social Injustice talk=== Description: Like many of you, BCAAA staff have been thinking, talking, and learning about racial equity and social injustice. What can we do to help ensure that our services are culturally and linguistically appropriate? We invite you to learn more about how the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging is working for racial equity and social justice.===We’ll go over Boulder County’s strategic priorities; detail the BCAAA’s action plan for racial equity and social justice; and present some concepts that BCAAA staff have been working with as we seek a better understanding of the many forms of diversity as we strive to build a more just and inclusive community.===Presented by: BCAAA’s CLAS (Culturally & Linguistically Appropriate Services) Committee

February 11 – 7 p.m. Trivia Night returns to the Lyons Library. === This time the funds raised from donations made via PayPal will go towards funding the Winter Reading Program. Those who don’t have a team are welcome and will be matched up. As a team you will get to privately discuss online your answers and then return to the whole group to share your responses and hear the correct responses. Prizes of gift cards to local business will be awarded for winning teams.
February 11 – Boulder County Aging, by their Nutritionist: online, free: Fresh Conversations February 11th, 1-2 PM “Healthy Food, Healthy Brain”
February 12 – 3 to 6 p.m. – Donations of women’s “business attire” in good condition…contemporary work/interview clothes, shoes, and accessories for women. Karen Gamber – 720-323-2193 Text is best; and she will give you her address. She will deliver them to the Denver office, which helps disadvantaged women dress for job interviews. February 16, Tuesday, Town of Lyons Board of Trustee meeting, 7 p.m. on Zoom. (The move to Tuesday is yet to be confirmed by Town Hall, due to the holiday.)

February 22 – Outdoor Sculpture: Submissions due to Lyons Arts & Humanities. To be considered for this two-year commitment, artists are encouraged to do an online submission.

March 12 – DEADLINE– Teen Scholarships: The Lyons Community Foundation offers six scholarships ranging between $500 and $2,000 for graduating high school students from the greater Lyons area.
