The Museum was closed all season due to the COVID ,and, is asking for donations for the Museum expenses since could not open and had no sales. (Who would ever dream we could not open!) This is the time that we need to hear from our Lyons High Alumni and past and current residents. We will appreciate your support. Send a check to Lyons Historical Society, P O Box 9, Lyons, Co. 80540
Thanks to Roberts Excavation for their $400.00 donation toward a new driveway at the Museum. Much appreciated. The 2013 flood washed the old driveway put in 15 years ago by Western Mobile, making it dangerous to drive or walk on. We appreciate it very much.
*NEW* HISTORY – ABSTRACTS: The Lyons Museum has received two abstracts from the Broomfield Museum, consisting of the Copeland Lake area, near Allenspark, and one of Riverside to Peaceful Valley. These parcels of land were first recorded to Daniel Drummond from Boulder County to John B Copeland on Sept. 15, 1881; and known as the Copeland Lake Subdivision, consisting of around 80 lots. with the last entry on March 41-1958 from Oscar and Arlene Fiene to The Public Trustee for use by Charles Hotz, including building the Copeland Lake Lodge and the Plat of Riverside,Colorado. The second one was first recorded on July 30, 1898, as The Ballarat & Lyons Short Line Toll Road Company with Warren E. Dyer, being a wagon toll road up and along the Canon of S. St. Vrain Creek, and a branch of same to Jamestown in Boulder County, Colorado, Pres. Thru the years these lots have been sold, with the last entry Oct.. 13, 1950, from Albert and Goldie Bahret to Edith M Puls and Greta Paulsen. (They don’t make Abstracts anyone, which is a history of the parcels of land. Sad to have this History go by)
