Lyons Community Foundation is putting on Facebook short video interviews of all the stores that they gave money to thru the Lyons Share Fund. (We hope to have an article about them this month in the Recorder). ~~ Lyons Chamber of Commerce is highlighting one business each week, with lots of details about what they produce and sell. They also have a contest every Wednesday. Shop Local!

November 11 – Fire Operations Update:
==Calwood fire remains at: Size: 10,106 Acres, 85% contained.
==East Troublesome fire is Size: 193,804 Acres = Nov. 4th: 37% contained. = Nov. 10th: 60 percent contained.
==Cameron fire is Size: 208,913 Acres, Contained: 92 percent! (containment remains the same for 2 weeks in a row)

November 1 – Connect for Colorado health plan = Open Enrollment Period begins Nov 1, 2020 for coverage that starts Jan 1, 2021. (Go to their upgraded pages now to insert your email.)
November 6 – Boulder County begins “Safer at Home, Level 3, High Risk” restrictions. (Larimer County remains at Level 2) Individuals at Risk of Severe Illness from COVID-19 are urged to stay in their residence at all times except as necessary to seek medical care. All individuals are asked to stay at home, unless doing essential business; and not go to gatherings over the Holidays.
November 5 Meeting Rescheduled to December 3: Town of Lyons: The purpose of this Public Hearing is for Consideration of Final Approval of the Modified Development Plan for 0 Carter Drive – Lyons Valley Park. Members of the Public and other interested parties are hereby invited to attend the public hearing and may be heard or submit written comments regarding the matter under consideration, to the Town Clerk at Town Hall, 432 5th Ave, Lyons, CO.
November 7 – Joe Biden declared President Elect. See our article for statistics and more.
November 11 – Veteran’s Day – Thank you for your Service! (See article about Lyons Vets) This is a public holiday held on November 11 which is the anniversary of the end of World War I to honor US veterans and victims of all wars. It replaced Armistice Day in 1954.
November 12 – free group “mental wellness” session on ZOOM with Cherie Maureaux, LEAF counselor. NOTE: the time has changed to 12noon, every Thursday.
November 14 – Between 9 a.m. and noon; bring your leaf piles to the wastewater treatment plant (198 2nd Ave.) for free drop-off. The leaves collected will be responsibly composted at a commercial site. Your pine needles are also welcome. Bring them in paper bags or loose in bins (plastic bags are not recyclable). Face masks are required. (Town of Lyons event)
November 15 – America Recycles Day = A Keep America Beautiful initiative; a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. (See the article for information on local recycling and national events)
November 16 – 7 p.m. Town Board of Trustees Meeting – view online at town website, and/or read About Town by LaVern Johnson.
November 16 — midnight– BAND FUNDRAISER — deadline to buy your poinsettias, holiday greenery (eg wreaths, garlands etc) and Christmas cacti as part of the Lyons Middle/High School Band annual fundraiser. They are always enormous and fresh. (Pickup will be December 2nd) Contact Karen Crews Gregg, Band Director.
November 17, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Free flu shots for those without insurance or help. See the Town’s web page or this Facebook link for more information. At the Visitor Center. No ID required. Adults only, ages 19+ Essential workers welcome.
November 17 – Visit on Zoom with Pam Houston to the Lyons Regional Library community. Ms. Houston is the award-winning author of Deep Creek: Finding Hope in the High Country, and the award-winning Cowboys Are My Weakness.
November 20 – start of classes for small businesses. CSU’s College of Business is launching Pivot Larimer County, a suite of free, faculty-led, workshops and video resources made possible by a $200,000 grant from Larimer County. The County received funding to provide this grant, as well as other programs to support the community, through the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund.
