Another week gone with scary fire call; evacuation for some, to get ready for others– the CalWood Fire coming down the South St. Vrain and burned 9,915 acres; then luckily some snow. Things are terribly dry. and they say even the 10 inches or so of snow does not quell the dryness..Pray for more snow!!

Local covid news: COVID-19 is more dangerous; with more new cases per day- 68 new cases 7 new cases at CU today, with 4875 cases 17 in the County-with 81 deaths. There have been 208 hospitalized, and 1039 have recovered. The death toll remains at 80. 63,230 county residents have been tested with 4.3% returning positive. There has been 2826 cases reported in boulder, 1350 in Longmont, 342 in Lafayette, 222 in Louisville, 87 in Superior, 95 Erie, 6 in Nederland, TWELVE NOW IN LYONS -THREE -NEW- CASES IN LYONS THIS WEEK, and 320 in incorporated Boulder County; Of Colorado’s 5.7 million population, 1,168725 have been tested. All are to wear a mask, wash your hands, stay 6 feet away, and if possible to STAY-IN!

Bohn Park is open for Softball, and the Lyons Girls were the first to practice on it..After 7 years..they made it. Thanks to all! There will be practice on the field, but the Little League games remain being played in Longmont.
Construction on Lyons School auditorium is progressing, included in the 2016 bond Issue. Good News!! (Although it cuts the parking..it will be worth it!)

MUSEUM NEWS+THE LYONS REDSTONE MUSEUM
The Museum has conceded that it was unsafe for the Museum to open this season, and it is still open virtually (if you are here from afar and need to make research call 303 823 5925 and we will make arrangements to let you in on a Wednesday Thru the winter months the staff will do scrapbooks, scanning, and Past Perfect, long-needed-to-do jobs; awaiting until people will feel safe. Thanks to the Museum team, Terri Weir, Monique Sawyer-Long, Baiba Lennard, Brianna Hoyt, and Emily Walker, who have a 2019 Virtual tour of 40 Artifacts – go to www.LyonsRedstoneMuseum.com. Also click on to the Lyons Historic District On-line Tour to CLIO -A map attached will guide your drive-by tour with the History of the 15 sandstone buildings that are designated as a Historic District, now on-line. You will love the extensive Lyons Cemetery virtual tour, where you can drive around to find the tombstone with history on-line. Also a brochure and on-line of Sally Colt’s wedding dress is pending. (wife of W. A. Colt, who built the Trail Ridge Road, Highway to Estes Park, Foothills Highway; the dam near Colorado Springs, and etc. He had a son Jim Colt Lyons High School Class of 1940, whose son was killed in WWII, a son, David, deceased om 1968, and a daughter, Mary Filley; Kay and Ted Laws who lived in the Colt home on Apple Valley road in the 1970’s now of Alamosa brought the Museum an old trunk of Grandpa Colts to display.
*NEW* – BROCHURE: The Museum’s annual Brochure made by Baiba Lennard is finally mailed for the Year 2020 telling our cohorts what was happening at the museum and the special on-line displays. The Museum was closed all season due to the COVID , but will open or answer for research of Lyons History, and, of course, is asking for donations for the Museum expenses since could not open and had no sales. (Who would ever dream we could not open!) This is the time that we need to hear from our Lyons High Alumni and past and current residents. We will appreciate your support.
