School News: September – October 2020

News from Lyons Middle/High School:
I’m the band director at Lyons Middle Senior High School and we are busy preparing to start hybrid instruction on October 5th. Both the band & choir programs have unique needs to ensure student safety due to the nature of aerosol disbursement when playing instruments or singing. If you’re looking for a way to support the local music programs, we could use some help with donations of needed items to make instrument-friendly face masks and instrument covers. — If you would like to help, please visit the ‘Wish List’ that we have created on Amazon. Any items purchased are shipped directly to me. We would be so appreciative of any help at all.
Musically yours, Karen Gregg and Allison Zema
UPDATE September 27, 2020 EVERY.=SINGLE.=THING on this list has been purchased. absolutely blown away by people’s generosity. Thank you for supporting music in Lyons….we are deeply grateful to be a part of this amazing community.

CONSTRUCTION FOR THE LONG AWAITED Middle/Senior High AUDITORIUM is about to begin. Thru the years, it seemed all High Schools had an auditorium except Lyons, a school bond that includes same was finally included in the 2016 bond Issue. Good News!! ====In November, voters approved St. Vrain Valley’s $260.3 million bond issue by a wide margin, signifying wide community investment in public education.
