Foxes roaming the Greater Lyons Area The most common fox in the Lyons area is the red fox. It has reddish orange fur, with some white, and a white-tipped tail and black ears and feet. But Colorado is also home to three other types of fox: the gray, swift, and kit foxes.

Leaf Isher said, “They were under the old shed behind the house. They are grown and gone now, but it sure was fun watching them grow. This was the second year she used this den to raise her family.”
Mom and baby “kit” go for a walk near Steamboat Mountain. “The fox picture was taken in my driveway,” said Kathleen Sherlock Morris. “They were residing in the neighbor’s drainage pipe.”
Theresa Comstock Russell said: “This was close to the house. Both are pups.”
“Which is my better side? My thick bushy tail, or my magnificent bust colors?” asks the sly fox. He was seen roaming the mountains near CO Highway 7. Photo: Phyllis O’Rourke
