On July 25, there will be a graduation ceremony at the Lyons Middle/High School for the 2020 seniors.
Senior Night was May 22. Student speakers were Harrison Abernathy, the senior class president; Charlotte Rogers, student body president; and Olivia Cope, who was chosen through an audition video. The teacher speaker, who was selected by the senior class, was Kevin Schafer. There was also a slideshow of the entire class.
The seniors received their yearbooks on May 21. (See the school web site for an order form.)
On the evening of May 21, approximately 30 cars formed a caravan that drove around downtown Lyons to the cheers of residents.
On May 16, the juniors and seniors participated in a virtual prom on WebEx. There was music, trivia, a home scavenger hunt, and the crowning of a Prom King (Isaac Roberts) and and Prom Queen (Emily VanLeeuwen).

Nick Boggess is the class of 2020 valedictorian. Dr. Karen Gregg, Director of Bands, and Dr. Andrea Smith, Principal, made a special socially distant stop on April 27 at Boggess’ house to honor him as the official class of 2020 valedictorian.

April 25 was Spirit Day for teachers during the staff meeting. The video-conference screen was covered in Lyons’ blue and white. The teacher of the Year was Eric Henson, and finalists were Shannon Carheden and Sarah Wegert.

A highlight of the school’s athletics year was Oran Huff wining the Lyons State Championship on February 22 at the CHSAA State Wrestling Championship at the Pepsi Center. Six wrestlers from the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) were in the Parade of Champions. Another massive highlight was when the cross country team was the first to ever win all four categories at the state championships (individual and full team women’s XC race, and individual and full team men’s XC race). Quinn Gregg (class of 2022) won the women’s, and Isaac Roberts (class of 2020) won the men’s.
This material was gathered from the SVVSD Lyons Middle/High School web pages and Twitter account, and with the assistance of Olivia Cope. Student graduation photos and biographies will be online at the Lyons Recorder in June. Congratulations Seniors!
