Habitat for Humanity Women Build Days in Lyons March 6 & 7

Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 are “Women Build Days” as part of Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing project here in Lyons.

If you are a woman who enjoys volunteering and working on a team, encourage your female friends to join you and sign up to learn new skills, have fun, and contribute to our community by participating.

Habitat for Humanity International, Lowe’s, and approximately 6,000 women volunteers in India, Canada, and the U.S. will gather in over 235 communities for International Women Build Week from March 1 to March 7 to bring attention to the need for affordable housing. As a prelude to International Women’s Day on March 8, the global event intends to build or repair nearly 540 houses, including a new two-family building here in Lyons. On March 6, the soon-to-be homeowners at 112 Park Street will be working alongside the volunteers.

To register (at least 24 hours in advance), sign up for either March 6 or March 7 on the Lyons construction volunteer page for Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley.

I participated in a Women Build Day years ago, and was gratified to know I was helping to make a family’s dream of homeownership come true–while also learning to hang sheet rock. But I had come without friends or co-workers, and I saw how much fun the groups who knew each other were having. So consider this an opportunity to spend time with friends. It’s a great way to build on your friendships while serving the community, helping families, and having fun. You will be glad you did it.
