Based on the community dancing style that coordinator Ellen Rosenberg experienced while living in rural New Hampshire and Maine, this everyone-is-welcome event is funded in part by the Central Rockies Old-Time Music Association (CROMA) and the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC).
All of the family-friendly dances are taught on the spot. No previous experience, partner, or special attire is required. Layered comfortable clothes are recommended. Dances are easiest early in the evening, and get more complex as the event progresses.
Rosenberg has lived in the Lyons area since 1992. She initially started these lively community-building offerings in 1999 with Lyons Parks and Recreation.
Cringe Worthy and the Deep Regrets (Larry Edelman, Matt Brown, Jayme Stone, and Pat Carbone) will be providing the old-time tunes, with Denver-based dance caller Chris Kermiet providing the reel, mixer, and square dance calls he’s been offering up for more than 35 years. Waltzes and flatfooting are also featured.
Come on down and bring your friends and family! The cost is $10 per adult, $5 per child, or $25 per family. For more information contact 303-827-6322 or email email@example.com.
