Mother Nature cooperated just in time for the first Winter Wonderland show of the season. On Saturday, January 11, eager kids (and adults!) who had been frustrated by days of warmish temperatures were finally able to get out on the ice rink at LaVern M. Johnson Park.
Hot cocoa, cookies, and brownies were provided by the Lyons Community Foundation, and skates were free for the two-hour event. The gas fires were on for the chilly participants. Ms. LaVern herself arrived shortly after the festivities began and took her place close to one of the fires.
Music was provided by The Good Manners Band, comprised of Ian Brighton, Eric Thorin, Charlie Rose, and David Wiatrolik, all members of various other local bands.
This Saturday, January 25, from 2pm to 4pm, Joe Kuckla and Irons in the Fire will be the featured act. The music will once again be accompanied by refreshments and free skate rental.
